Posterior Crown Prep Quick Reference

General Rules: You need to ensure that your preps have vertical walls on any internal aspect of the prep. You need to ensure that we have a 3 degree or greater taper in the box.
Make sure that you do not have any vertical 90 degree angles and that your margins are sharp. Make sure that you have smooth internal walls. Do not create any undercuts on the interproximal as this could jeopardize the fit.
It is recommended to keep the floor of your prep as smooth and flat as possible. We need a 1.5mm to 2mm minimal occlusal reduction and a minimum 1.2mm modified porcelain butt margin. The basic rule is not flare like you would do for conventional preps.
